Women Conference

1st Women Conference, held in 2020 at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, was a dynamic gathering of women from across the country. Its purpose was to discuss the challenges faced by women today and inspire and empower women nationwide.

The conference brought together visionary women from diverse industries who shared their success stories through personal experiences and delivered motivating speeches. The event also featured musical performances, enriching transformations, dance performances, live sessions, theatre performances, and encouraging words.

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in empowering talks, listen to reading recitals, enjoy Khawateen Mushaira (a gathering of female poets), and much more.

I believe in showcasing the bright face of Pakistan to the world, but I also recognize that this brightness cannot truly shine until all members of our society have access to their full rights. Women's empowerment, recognizing that their success is key to unlocking Pakistan's full potential. At the Arts Council, we are committed to supporting women in the arts and beyond, providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. I strongly believe that by empowering women, we can build a brighter future for all of Pakistan.

I strongly believe that women's participation in conferences and other spaces of discussion is vital to creating a more just and equal society. Conferences that prioritize women's voices and experiences can facilitate meaningful conversations on cultural, socioeconomic, and political issues that affect women's lives. I have always been passionate about exploring these issues through my work and advocating for women's rights. I hope that women conference inspires and empowers women to continue speaking up and making their voices heard as women must be aware of their rights.

Musical Performances

As the curtains drew close on the exhilarating Day 1 of 1st Women Conference 2020 at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, the air was filled with anticipation and fun. The stage came alive with the electrifying music performance by ACMA The Band, casting a spell of pure enchantment over the attendees.

Dramatic Performance

A thought provoking theatre play called “Haqiqat” by Uzma Sabeen.

Dance Perforamnce

On day 2 of 1st Women Conference 2020, Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi was enchanted by the captivating and brilliant dance performance by Tehreema Mitha.

Khawateen Mushaira

1st Women Conference 2020 was closed off with a grand Khawateen Mushaira which had famous female poets from around the world. The Khawateen Mushaira was presided by Kishwar Naheed.

Inauguration Day

The opening ceremony of 1st Women Conference 2020 at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi started with an significant address by President ACP, Mohammad Ahmed Shah (SI). The keynote speakers for the event were I.A. Rehman and Justice (R) Nasira Iqbal. A special thanks was extended to Prof. Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi. The distinguished guests who graced the stage were Zehra Nigah, Kishwar Naheed, Syeda Shehla Raza, Zubaida Mustafa, Justice Majida Rizvi, Anis Haroon, Sadiqa Salahuddin, Zakia Sarwar, Ameena Saiyid, Fatima Hassan, and Abida Batool. Dr. Huma Mir served as the MC for the opening ceremony.

1st Women Conference 2020 was closed off with a grand Khawateen Mushaira which had famous female poets from around the world. The Khawateen Mushaira was presided by Kishwar Naheed.

Dance

An memorizing dance performance by Sheema Kermani adorned the conference. The attendees were enthralled by the enchanting steps of classical dance of Sheema Kermani.

Economic Empowrment

The second session of 1st Women Conference at Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi was titled "Economic Empowerment of Women." It aimed to emphasize the importance of women being financially independent and secure for the overall development of society. The speaker for this session was Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, and the session was moderated by Ahmed Jalal.
